Dyson unveils next generation air purifiers

Dyson’s latest purifiers are designed for businesses and commercial spaces, such as offices and classrooms.

Dyson has introduced the HEPA Cool Formaldehyde air purifier, designed for businesses and commercial spaces, such as offices and classrooms, as cleanliness becomes a top priority in the wake of COVID-19.

In addition to a new formaldehyde sensor, sealed HEPA 13 standard filtration and 20 per cent quieter performance compared to its predecessor, the air purifier has been designed with businesses in mind by including a spare remote, longer cable and additional one-year warranty to the standard two-year parts and labour guarantee.

Formaldehyde is a colourless gas pollutant, released by furniture and wooden products which use formaldehyde-based resins and commonly associated with new or refurbished spaces. It is 500 times smaller than 0.1 microns, which makes it difficult to capture but leads to long-term exposure if left undetected due to off gassing.

Scheduled to launch in New Zealand in May 2021, Dyson’s HEPA Cool Formaldehyde air purifier has been engineered to filtration and powerful projection to support existing HVAC systems and provide cleaner, purified air throughout office spaces and classrooms.

A new solid-state formaldehyde sensor works alongside Dyson’s unique algorithm to precisely monitor formaldehyde levels, ignoring other gases detected by a dedicated VOC sensor.

Formaldehyde sensors are often gel-based and can deteriorate over time. Using a solid electro-chemical cell, the Dyson formaldehyde sensor does not dry out and its unique intelligent algorithm cross-checks data every second.

The machine’s airflow pathways have been re-engineered to achieve sealed HEPA 13 standard filtration to ensure no air bypasses the filter and to block any potential leak points. This has also enabled the machine to be 20% quieter without compromising purification performance.

The overall airflow path was refined by widening the aperture – the slot in which the air exits the machine – and improving the its geometry. As a result, the friction between the air and surface of the machine is decreased, reducing the noise from 64 to 61 decibels at max fan speed.

Dyson’s HEPA Cool Formaldehyde air purifier is accompanied by the Dyson Link app to track indoor pollution, temperature and humidity levels, as well as provide maintenance support and troubleshooting. It is also compatible with Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Apple’s Siri.
